The building or project condition
Operating mine site, with the substations energised and in service.
What FRS delivered
- Fire stopping to service penetrations through the substation fire-rated construction
What made it difficult
- Energised electrical rooms, with access controlled by permit
- Remote mobilisation
- High service density in a small floor and wall area
What was recorded at close-out
- Location-by-location penetration record with photographs
- Certificate of Compliance
Substations concentrate the problem. A large number of cables pass through a small amount of fire-rated construction, the room has to stay energised, and the access window is short.
Each penetration was treated as its own record — what passes through it, what the element is, which system was installed, and a photograph before and after. That is what makes the installation checkable later by someone who was not there.
