Fire Rated Systems

Where We Work

We work across the whole of Western Australia, not a service radius.

Fire Rated Systems is a Western Australian passive fire contractor. There is no suburb in the Perth metropolitan area we will not attend, and we work regionally from the South West to the Kimberley. What follows is where we have actually been, and what decides whether a regional job is worth mobilising for.

Overview

Most contractor websites publish a service area as a radius from a depot, and then quietly decline anything outside it. We would rather say the useful thing instead: across the Perth metropolitan area, distance is not a factor in whether we take the work. From Two Rocks to Mandurah, from the coast to the hills, if you can get us site access we will attend.

Regional Western Australia is a different question, and it is not about willingness. It is about mobilisation. Getting a crew, the right systems and the certification paperwork to Port Hedland is a piece of planning, and it only makes sense at a certain scale. The section further down says plainly what makes a regional job work, so you can tell before you ring us.

01

Perth metropolitan area

Every suburb. The corridors below are how we organise crews and travel, not a list of where we will and will not go — if your building is in the metro area, it is in scope.

How the metro breaks up in practice

  • Perth CBD and inner suburbs — Perth, West Perth, East Perth, Northbridge, Subiaco, South Perth, Victoria Park, Burswood. Our registered office is on St Georges Terrace. Published work here includes 619 Murray Street, Tuohy Gardens and the Mount Street apartments in West Perth.
  • Northern corridor — Osborne Park, Balcatta, Herdsman, Stirling, Karrinyup, Scarborough, Innaloo, Joondalup, Hillarys, Wanneroo, Clarkson. The Karrinyup Shopping Centre work sits in this corridor.
  • North-east — Malaga, Morley, Bayswater, Bassendean, Midland, Ellenbrook, Guildford. The Northern Terminal Substation at Malaga is published under Energy & Utilities.
  • Airport and eastern industrial — Belmont, Redcliffe, Welshpool, Kewdale, Forrestfield, High Wycombe, Hazelmere. The Airport West office building is in this corridor.
  • South-east — Canning Vale, Cannington, Jandakot, Thornlie, Gosnells, Armadale, Byford.
  • Fremantle and the southern coast — Fremantle, North Coogee, Cockburn, Bibra Lake, Henderson, Kwinana, Rockingham, Baldivis. Fremantle Cold Stores at North Coogee is published under Industrial & Manufacturing.
  • Peel — Mandurah, Pinjarra, Halls Head, Falcon.

Not an exhaustive list of suburbs, and it is not meant to be. If yours is not named above it is still covered — ring us.

02

Regional Western Australia

We have worked across most of the state. These are regions with completed, published projects behind them rather than places we would be willing to consider.

  • South West — Bunbury, Busselton, Collie, Margaret River, Manjimup. The Busselton Performing Arts and Convention Centre and the Worsley alumina refinery at Collie are both published.
  • Peel and the Darling Range — Boddington, Pinjarra, Waroona. The Boddington Gold Mine is published under Mining & Resources.
  • Mid West — Geraldton and the inland iron ore operations. Karara is published.
  • Pilbara — Port Hedland, South Hedland, Karratha, Newman, and the mine sites inland. Cloud Break and the Port Hedland IMOC building are both published.
  • Goldfields — Kalgoorlie-Boulder and the surrounding operations.
  • Great Southern and the Wheatbelt — Albany, Northam, Narrogin, Merredin.
  • Kimberley — Broome, Derby, Kununurra. The furthest from Perth and the most planning-dependent.

What makes a regional job work

Being straight about this saves everybody a wasted phone call. Regional work is priced on mobilisation as much as on the work itself, so what matters is not distance — it is whether there is enough in one visit to justify getting there.

What we look at

  • Scale in a single visit. A floor of penetrations, a full door inspection across a site, or a shutdown scope all work. One door on its own usually does not, and we will tell you that rather than quote it badly.
  • Whether it can be combined. We travel to the Pilbara, the Goldfields and the South West for existing clients. If your site sits near work we already have booked, the mobilisation is already paid for and the numbers change completely. Always worth asking.
  • Site access and inductions. Mine sites and operating industrial facilities have their own requirements, and the time to sort them out is before mobilisation, not on arrival.
  • Accommodation and shutdown windows. On an operating site the work usually has to fit a window somebody else controls. The earlier we know it, the better the programme.
  • What has to be left behind. The certification, the asset register and the photographic record matter more on a remote site, because nobody is dropping back next week to check something.

If you are regional and unsure whether your job is big enough, ring and ask. A two-minute conversation is cheaper than either of us guessing.

Why there is one page and not two hundred

You will find passive fire companies with a separate page for every suburb in Perth, each one the same text with the place name swapped. It is worth knowing that Google's published spam policies name that practice directly, and that sites doing it can be demoted as a whole rather than page by page.

We would rather have one honest page that says we cover the state, and put the effort into the technical library instead. If you want to know whether we work in your suburb, the answer is yes — and this page did not need to be two hundred pages to tell you that.

Questions

The questions we actually get

Do you charge extra for travel within the metro area?
No. Metro attendance is priced the same wherever the building is.
We are in a regional town and only have a few doors. Is it worth ringing?
Yes, ring. It may not be worth a dedicated trip on its own, but if we already have work booked nearby the mobilisation is covered and the price changes. We will tell you honestly either way.
Do you work on operating mine sites?
Yes. Boddington, Cloud Break, Karara and Worsley are all published projects on operating sites, and the work is planned around shutdown windows and site induction requirements.
Can you do a whole portfolio across several suburbs at once?
Yes, and it is usually the most efficient way to buy it. A portfolio inspection lets us group repeat conditions into one scope rather than pricing each building cold.
Will you travel outside Western Australia?
We are a Western Australian contractor and that is where our licensing, our crews and our supplier relationships sit. Ask us if you have something unusual, but WA is the honest answer.

Not sure whether we come to you?

Ring and ask, or send the building address with the quote request. If it is metro the answer is yes. If it is regional we will tell you what would make the trip work, and whether we already have anything booked nearby.
