Accessibility
This page says what we have done to make this website usable for everybody, what we know is not right yet, and how to get hold of us if the site gets in your way. If you cannot use part of this site, that is a problem we want to hear about — not one for you to work around.
What we are aiming at
The recognised benchmark for websites is the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines, level AA. It is the standard referred to in Australian government and public-sector procurement, and it is what this site was built towards.
We are not claiming formal conformance. That takes an independent audit by people who do it for a living, including testing with the software that people actually use, and we have not had one done. What follows is what we have built, what we have checked ourselves, and what we already know falls short. We would rather tell you that than put a badge on the page.
What should work
Every one of these has been checked across all 125 pages of this site, not sampled on a few.
- **Keyboard only.** Every link, button, menu and form field can be reached and used with the Tab key alone. There is a Skip to content link at the top of every page so you are not tabbing through the menu on each one.
- **Visible focus.** Wherever you are on the page, the thing you are on is outlined clearly. No hunting for where the cursor has got to.
- **Screen readers.** Every page has one main heading and headings in a sensible order, a main landmark so you can jump straight to the content, and the page language set so the words are pronounced as Australian English.
- **Images.** All 448 images carry alternative text. Images that are purely decorative are deliberately marked as such, so a screen reader passes over them instead of reading out a filename.
- **Forms.** Every field on the quote and call-back forms has a label attached to it properly, so it is announced when you land on it. Errors are shown in words next to the field, not by colour alone.
- **Contrast.** Text against its background has been measured, not eyeballed. Every piece of text on the site meets the AA contrast level for its size.
- **Reduced motion.** If your device is set to reduce motion, the animations on this site stop.
- **Magnification and phones.** The site reflows down to phone width and up to large text without content being cut off or needing sideways scrolling.
What is not right yet
Two things we know about.
- **The short video on the home page has no captions or transcript.** If you are deaf or hard of hearing, it is no use to you. It is a background clip rather than something that carries information you need, and nothing on the site depends on having watched it — but that is an explanation, not an excuse. If that matters to you, ring us and we will talk you through it.
- **Nobody who relies on assistive technology has tested this site.** Our checks are automated and thorough, but an automated check cannot tell you whether a page actually makes sense read aloud. Until somebody has sat down with a screen reader and used it, we are not going to claim it works perfectly.
If something on this site does not work for you
Tell us and we will get you what you were after another way — by phone, by email, or in whatever format suits you. You do not need to explain why, and there is no wrong way to ask.
Call **(08) 6149 5444** or email **admin@fireratedsystems.com.au**. If you can, say which page you were on and what you were trying to do — that helps us fix the thing itself, not just answer your question.
If you would rather not use the forms on this site at all, ring us. Everything the forms do can be done over the phone, including sending us drawings.
How this was checked, and when
The whole site was checked automatically on 28 September 2026 and again on 29 September 2026, at both desktop and phone width: heading order, alternative text on every image, labels on every form control, link text that makes sense out of context, touch target sizes, sideways overflow, console errors, and measured colour contrast on every piece of text.
Those checks found nothing outstanding. They are also not a substitute for the audit described above, and we are not presenting them as one.
